IN THIS REVIEW ▾
ServiceTitan is the most talked-about HVAC software in the industry. Walk into any contractor conference, and you'll hear debates about whether it's a game-changer or overpriced hype. But with no public price, third-party estimates of $245 to $500 per technician per month, and its own filings showing about $89,000 per customer per year on average (checked September 2026), is it actually worth it?
This honest ServiceTitan review covers what the platform does well, where it falls short, and who should (and shouldn't) buy it. It is based on ServiceTitan's published plans, its annual filing and third-party pricing reports, compared directly against alternatives.
I build EstimateKit, a competing product focused specifically on HVAC estimating. But I'll be fair about what ServiceTitan HVAC software does better and where alternatives make more sense. My goal is helping you pick the right tool, even if it's not mine.
By the end of this review, you'll know exactly whether ServiceTitan fits your business—or whether you're better off with something simpler (and cheaper).
What ServiceTitan is. A business operating system, not an estimating tool.
ServiceTitan is an all-in-one field service management platform built specifically for home service businesses—HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Unlike specialized tools that do one thing well, ServiceTitan tries to be your entire business operating system.
ServiceTitan positions itself as the "enterprise" solution for growing home service companies. They target 5+ truck operations that want to eliminate multiple tools and consolidate everything into one platform. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Glendale, California, they serve over 10,000 customers across home services.
ServiceTitan pricing: what you'll actually pay. It isn't on their website.
ServiceTitan doesn't publish ServiceTitan pricing on their website. The tiers are Starter, Essentials and The Works, and every one of them says "Request pricing." Third-party estimates (Tooled Up Pro, FieldCamp, 2026) put it at $245 to $500 per technician per month with a 12-month contract typical. The most reliable number is ServiceTitan's own FY2026 filing: $961.0M in revenue across about 10,800 customers, which works out to roughly $89,000 per customer per year on average.
Illustrative monthly cost, 3 technicians, on third-party estimates
The pricing is opaque on purpose. They want you on a sales call where they can negotiate based on your revenue.

ServiceTitan pros and cons. Seven for, seven against.
One platform for everything eliminates tool-switching. Your techs, office staff, and you all work in the same system.
If you're growing from 5 trucks to 15 trucks, ServiceTitan grows with you. Other tools break at this scale.
Customer portal, automated communications, and online booking make you look like a large, established company.
Dedicated account managers, training sessions, and responsive support.
Revenue by technician, booking rates, average ticket, seasonal trends, customer lifetime value.
Built specifically for HVAC/plumbing/electrical, not generic contractor software.
10,000+ contractors. Active Facebook groups, annual conference, peer learning.
About $89,000 per customer per year on average, per ServiceTitan's own filings. A 3-tech shop on third-party estimates pays $8,800 to $18,000 a year before implementation.
If you have 1-3 trucks, you're paying for features you'll never use.
Plan 2-3 weeks for full team training. Your office staff will struggle initially.
Can't easily leave if it's not working. Contractors report 12-month contracts as typical.
Add-ons, extra users and payment processing fees come on top of the base software price.
The estimating module isn't HVAC-specific. No built-in load calculations. Takes 20-30 minutes per estimate.
Getting fully set up and trained takes 1-2 months. You can't just start using it tomorrow.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't. Perfect at eight trucks, overkill at one.
Need professional dispatch · Want everything in one system · Ready to invest in software · Have office staff to manage it · Doing $2M+ annual revenue
70%+ service calls vs installations · Need membership programs · Want automated marketing · Value customer retention tools
Love analytics and dashboards · Track KPIs religiously · Optimize based on numbers
Don't need dispatch (you know where you're going) · $3,000-6,000/year per tech is a significant % of revenue · Learning curve not worth it for simple needs
Estimating takes too long (20-30 min) · Don't need complex service call features · Better off with a specialized estimating tool
Just getting started · Doing under $1M revenue · Not ready for a five-figure annual commitment
ServiceTitan alternatives for HVAC. Four head-to-heads. Truck count decides most.
When ServiceTitan makes sense: You need the whole suite and have the budget. When alternatives make sense: You have 1-4 people, or you already have QuickBooks/Google Calendar and just need estimating.
ServiceTitan reviews: common themes for HVAC. Big shops love it. Small shops leave.
ServiceTitan implementation timeline. Eight to twelve weeks. Don't underestimate it.
Office manager 20-30 hours · Dispatchers 15-20 hours · Technicians 5-10 hours each · Owner/GM 10-15 hours
Dedicated account manager · Phone support (24/7 for emergencies) · Online knowledge base · Community forums · Annual conference
No. ServiceTitan doesn't offer trials due to setup complexity. You need a demo, then commit to 12 months.
ServiceTitan doesn't publish one. Third-party estimates run $245 to $500 per technician per month, implementation is reported at $5,000 to $50,000+, and ServiceTitan's own filings work out to about $89,000 per customer per year on average.
Usually not. Contractors report 12-month contracts as typical, and canceling early can carry penalties.
Yes. Two-way sync with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
2-3 months for full adoption. Some features take longer.
Generally no. If you have under 5 trucks, cheaper alternatives like Jobber or Housecall Pro make more sense.
Depth of features, home service focus, strong support, scalability. It's the most complete platform.
Is ServiceTitan worth it? The best all-in-one for 5+ trucks and $2M+ revenue.
For most solo to small contractors: Try Housecall Pro ($79/month) or EstimateKit ($49/month for your whole team). Get the features you need without paying for enterprise tools.
For growing contractors (5-10 trucks): ServiceTitan starts making sense. The five-figure annual investment pays for itself in efficiency gains.
For established contractors (10+ trucks): ServiceTitan is probably worth it. You need the features it offers.
The price is real, but so are the benefits—if you're big enough to use them.
