Housecall Pro vs EstimateKit in three numbers before the details.
Housecall Pro is easy to pick up and does a lot for home-service shops: scheduling, two-way texting, online booking, consumer financing, reporting and a long list of add-ons. We opened an HVAC trial in October 2026 and went through every plan.
What matters for a small shop is where the quoting tools sit. Good, better, best proposals, flat-rate pricing, membership plans, equipment tracking, job costing and QuickBooks Online sync all start on Essentials: $229 a month for one user, or $299 for a team of five and $100 a month for each person after that. Max is $649 with eight users and $75 for each extra, and Max+ is $1,149 with fifteen (housecallpro.com/pricing and the in-app billing page, checked 2026-10-08). Eight people on Essentials is $599 a month; ten is $799.
The price book is the other surprise. The trial came with 86 well-written HVAC services, and every one was priced at $0.00. A priced flat-rate book is Profit Rhino, a paid add-on.

When Housecall Pro is genuinely the right call.
Housecall Pro is the better pick if you sell big replacements on monthly payments: financing is on every plan, and we don't offer it. It also fits if you want customers to book online or straight from Google, want a two-way text inbox for the office, or want route optimization, a phone system and payroll in the same place. It has been around much longer than we have, and its report library and integrations show it.
If your crew is two or more people and the work is quote, schedule, invoice and maintenance visits, you'd be paying $299 a month or more for what our $49 plan does, and buying the priced price book on top.
Housecall Pro pros and cons. What's good, what isn't.
Why shops switch. Every one of these is on the $49 plan.
Every quote carries good, better and best options from your own price book. Send it by email or text it from your phone; they choose, sign on their phone, and you get a notification.
$49 a month covers up to 25 people, with owner, office and technician roles. Hiring your next tech doesn't change the bill.
Approval creates the job with the chosen option, a deposit invoice if you take one, and the final invoice when the job is done. Payments and balances stay on the same record.
Maintenance plans lay out the visits for the year, remind the customer when a tune-up is due and before renewal. Equipment records keep model, serial, age and a photo of the data plate.
Techs build and edit quotes with no signal; it syncs when they're back in the truck. Nothing gets overwritten without asking.
Send your supplier price sheet during the trial and we'll load your price book and build the first real quote with you. Free, on the same $49 plan.
EstimateKit takes a home service shop from the quote the customer signs to the invoice they pay, with maintenance plans and equipment records, for $49 a month for up to 25 people.
Where EstimateKit comes up short. Better you hear it from us.
Quotes and invoices can be texted from your own phone in one tap, and reminders go by email. We don't run two-way texting or automated text messages.
It runs in the browser on any phone, installs to the home screen, and works with no signal. The store apps are built and in review.
There's a dispatch board with a map and a crew calendar with a tech on every job. Live truck tracking, route optimization and call tracking aren't built.
Customers pay by card from the invoice link, and you can keep a card on file. Tap-to-pay on a phone and financing offers on a quote aren't built.
Customers, invoices and payments copy into QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Desktop and changes made in QuickBooks aren't synced back, and US automatic sales tax is coming soon.
Past 25 people on one account, this isn't the tool for you.

Yes. In Housecall Pro, an admin opens Customers, then Actions, then Export, and gets a CSV by email; the price book exports the same way from Settings, Price Book. EstimateKit imports both files and matches the columns, and setup help is free if you'd rather we do it with you.
Not in the HVAC trial we opened in October 2026: it preloaded 86 well-written services, every one at $0.00. A priced flat-rate book is Profit Rhino, a paid add-on. EstimateKit starts you with common repairs priced from your own labor rate and markup.
EstimateKit is $49 a month for up to 25 people. Service Fusion's Starter plan is $245 a month with unlimited users (servicefusion.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-24). Jobber sells plans by team size and charges $29 a month for each user past the plan (checked 2026-10-12).
Customer financing on quotes, a two-way text inbox, tap-to-pay in the field and store apps. EstimateKit isn't in the app stores yet; it runs in the browser on any phone and works with no signal. Customers can pay EstimateKit invoices by card from the link, and invoices and payments copy into QuickBooks Online.
