    Which kind you need

Two kinds of plumbing estimating software

Some tools on page one for plumbing estimating software are for bidding from plans. Pick by where the estimate happens.

    Service quoting software

    Repairs, drains, water heaters, replacements

You're at the house, you price a known job from a price book, offer options and get it signed before you leave. Speed, a clean quote and your margin matter more than counting fittings. This is what EstimateKit is.

    Takeoff and bid software

New construction and commercial, from plans

You count fixtures and measure pipe runs off drawings, apply labor units and bid the job to a general contractor. Tools such as FastPIPE, McCormick and PlanSwift are built for this. EstimateKit doesn't do it.

    The price book

45 plumbing repairs, priced on day one

A new plumbing account opens with 45 repairs in eight groups, from a $99 diagnostic to a sewer camera inspection, each with its hours and parts already in it. Labor starts at $125 an hour, $190 after hours and $70 for a helper, and four good, better, best quotes cover water heaters, tankless, toilets and sump pumps.

Starting prices, not your prices. Each repair carries its hours and parts, so setting your own hourly rate and markup once re-prices the whole book. Add your own repairs and import your supplier's price sheet any time.

    What you get

From the first call to paid, in one place

Every part of this is in the $49 plan. Nothing is an add-on.

A price book you don't have to build

Twelve water heater repairs, from anode rods and T&P valves to full tank and tankless swaps, plus toilets, faucets, drains, shutoffs, disposals and sump pumps. Each has its hours and parts. Set your hourly rate and markup once and the whole book re-prices.

    Options on the big tickets

Water heaters start as a 6-year tank, a 12-year tank with an expansion tank and drain pan, or a full code upgrade. Tankless goes up to recirculation and a sediment filter; sump pumps up to a battery backup with an alarm.

    Your margin while you quote

Profit and margin sit under the quote total and update as you add the heater, fittings and venting, so a thin replacement gets caught before the homeowner sees it.

Checklists for the visits you repeat

Three come with the account: an annual plumbing inspection that starts with static pressure (40 to 80 psi), a water heater flush and tune-up, and a tankless descaling service. Techs tick them on the job.

    Every water heater on file

Record the tank, tankless and heat pump heaters, sump pumps and softeners you install, with a photo of the data plate. Units past their typical life are marked, so you know who to call before it leaks.

    A protection plan to sell

The Plumbing Protection Plan comes set up at $149 a year: a yearly inspection and water heater flush, priority scheduling, 10% off repairs, a reduced service call fee and no after-hours surcharge.

    Is it for you

Who it fits, and who it doesn't

    A good fit

    • Residential service, drain and replacement plumbing
    • Water heater and tankless installers
    • Shops from one truck to 25 people
    • Plumbers quoting on paper, in Excel or in an invoicing app

    Not the right tool

    • New-construction and commercial bids taken off from plans (use a takeoff tool)
    • Fixture counts and pipe runs measured from drawings
    • Shops that need two-way texting or call tracking in the same tool
    • Companies with more than 25 people on one account

    What it doesn't do yet

    No texting service
Quotes and invoices can be texted from your own phone in one tap, and reminders go by email. We don't run two-way texting or automated text messages.
Not in the app stores yet
It runs in the browser on any phone, installs to the home screen, and works with no signal. The store apps are built and in review.
No GPS truck tracking or call tracking
There's a dispatch board with a map and a crew calendar with a tech on every job. Live truck tracking, route optimization and call tracking aren't built.
    No tap-to-pay or customer financing
Customers pay by card from the invoice link, and you can keep a card on file. Tap-to-pay on a phone and financing offers on a quote aren't built.
    QuickBooks Online only, one way
Customers, invoices and payments copy into QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Desktop and changes made in QuickBooks aren't synced back, and US automatic sales tax is coming soon.
    25 people is the cap
Past 25 people on one account, this isn't the tool for you.

    Questions

    Plumbing estimating software, answered

Does it come with a plumbing price book?+

Yes. A new plumbing account starts with 45 repairs and their parts, each with hours and a starting price, plus four good, better, best quotes: a 50-gallon water heater, a tankless install, a toilet replacement and a sump pump. Treat the prices as a starting point: the Set my prices button re-prices every repair from your own hourly rate and markup.

Can I bring my own prices or a supplier price sheet?+

Yes. The price book imports a CSV file with a name and a cost or price column, such as a supplier price sheet or an export from your current software, and applies your markup where there's only a cost.

Can I charge a service call fee and an after-hours rate?+

Yes. The book starts with a $99 diagnostic, $125 an hour standard labor, $190 after hours and $70 for a helper. Change any of them, and the repairs follow your standard rate.

Can I offer tank versus tankless on one quote?+

Yes. Any quote can have good, better and best options with their own lines and totals. The homeowner sees all three on one page and signs the one they want.

    Can I sell a plumbing maintenance plan?+

Yes. A Plumbing Protection Plan comes set up at $149 a year with an inspection and water heater flush, priority scheduling and 10% off repairs. Change the price and perks, add customers to it, and the yearly visit and renewal reminder are handled for you.

    Is this a takeoff tool?+

No. Takeoff tools such as FastPIPE, McCormick and PlanSwift measure plans for new-construction and commercial bids. EstimateKit is for quoting work at the house.

    How much does it cost?+

$49 a month for the whole shop, up to 25 people. No per-seat fees and no contract. Every new account gets 14 days free with no card.

Does it work in a basement with no signal?+

Yes. Quotes can be built and saved with no signal and sync when the phone is back in range.
