The short answer: Jobber costs less at every crew size we priced and is quicker to start. Housecall Pro has more of the tools a trade shop sells with (good, better, best proposals, maintenance plans, equipment records), but puts them on its team plans at $299 a month and up.
Both are well built, and both are sold by team size, so the gap grows as you hire. Neither gave us a priced list of services to start from. The rest of this page is what we saw in each trial, with the prices from each vendor's own pricing page.
What each costs for your crew. The cheapest plan that seats everyone, billed monthly.
Jobber sells teams in sizes of 5, 10 and 15 people, then charges $29 a month for each person past the plan. One person can start on Core at $49 a month, but Core leaves out QuickBooks sync, follow-ups, checklists and time tracking, so the table uses Connect.
Housecall Pro starts at $79 for one user on Basic. Its team plans are Essentials at $299 with five users and $100 for each one after that, Max at $649 with eight and $75 each after, and Max+ at $1,149 with fifteen.
The cheapest plan is not always the one you can use. Options on a quote need Jobber Grow ($299 for five people) or Housecall Pro Essentials ($299 for five). For a five-person shop that sells on options, the two cost the same.
Quoting. Where the two differ most for a trade shop.
Options on a quote
Jobber quotes are one list of lines. Any line can be marked optional, and the customer ticks the add-ons they want. We found no way to lay out two or three whole options side by side. Optional lines start on Grow.
Housecall Pro has a proposal tool that shows good, better and best options side by side. It starts on Essentials.
Price list on day one
Jobber's HVAC trial came with 8 services, each with a description and no price. Housecall Pro's came with about 86, also at $0. In both, the prices are yours to fill in. Housecall Pro sells a priced flat-rate book as a paid add-on; Jobber points to apps in its marketplace.
Seeing your margin
Jobber shows no cost or profit on the quote itself; job lines carry a cost, and job costing is on Grow. Housecall Pro's job costing starts on Essentials.
Side by side. What we found in each trial, and the plan it needs.
Plan names are the cheapest plan with the feature, from each trial's plan table on the day we checked. Where we write "not found", we looked in the menus, settings and plan comparison and did not see it.
Where each one is ahead. Neither wins everything.
Which one to pick. It comes down to crew size and how you sell.
Jobber Core at $49 a month, if you can live without QuickBooks sync and follow-ups.
Jobber Connect at $199 for up to five. Simple quotes, good scheduling, a website included.
Housecall Pro Essentials at $299 for five has the proposals, plans and equipment records. Jobber Grow costs the same for five and has optional lines but no plans or equipment records.
Jobber stays cheaper: $299 a month for ten against $799. Check that the plan you need has the features you sell with.
Jobber's AI receptionist is $29 a month for 30 conversations. Housecall Pro's is a paid add-on whose price we did not see.

Housecall Pro, through its proposal tool on Essentials ($299 a month with five users). Jobber lets you mark quote lines as optional add-ons on Grow, but we found no way to show two or three whole options side by side.
No. In our HVAC trials Jobber started with 8 services and Housecall Pro with about 86, all at $0. Housecall Pro sells a priced flat-rate book as an add-on.
Housecall Pro has more of the HVAC selling tools: proposals with options, maintenance plans and equipment records. Jobber is cheaper and easier to start, and leaves more of the trade setup to you. A small crew that sells on options should price both at its own size.
A third option. If you want options on every quote at one price.
We make EstimateKit, so weigh this section accordingly. It is $49 a month for up to 25 people, with good, better and best options on every quote, maintenance plans, equipment records, and a priced price book to start from for HVAC, plumbing or electrical.
It does less than either of them in places. There is no two-way texting service, no AI phone answering, no website builder and no GPS tracking, and it stops at 25 people. See the full Jobber comparison or the Housecall Pro comparison for what that means for your crew.
